LO2 Developing my initial idea for video games synopsis
The presenter Ben will discuss with co host about recently
released video games and what there opinions on them are. It will be 20
minutes long. It will include many different discussions on the news of
recent games and gaming related topics.
Target Audience- The target audience for this AMP would be 13-25 year olds because 13 is the age people get into video games and 25 is the age when video games become pointless and boring. The audience would most likely be male of gender and all ethnicity's. Their interests would be video games and tech related hobbies.
I can see the amp being made every week because the demand for AMP's on video games is high, this is also an ideal frequency because the audience would be likely to lose interest in the AMP if they are left without one for a while.
The AMP would be made up of news on the latest topics within the gaming community, eg recent releases, game companies being sold and general gaming related news .
I would use a normal microphone to record the audio.

LO2 Developing my initial idea on Basketball Synopsis
Bens Basketball Bash:
In this 15 minute podcast, the presenter Ben Buist will share his expert advice on the NBA basketball league and the future within basketball, by reading in-depth into the most recent trends in basketball. Who he thinks will be onform and playing well.
The target audience for this would be 12-50 year olds, this is because 12 is the age people will start getting into a sport properly and 50 is the age were people lose interest in their local teams. most likely male of gender, American by culture and of all ethnicity's. Wide ranges of incomes. Most likely interesting in Basketball, Sports in general.
I see the AMP being made every week and then being made available after the season starts so the audience will want weekly updates so that they don't miss out on anything related to their favourite sport.
My AMP would be made up of news, advice and predictions. I would keep it fresh quite easily by using scores from matches and creating news from these scores each week.
I will use a microphone to record my podcast.

LO1 Analysis of audio media product report
1st draft.
I will be writing about the conclusion of my research on Audio Media Products. I will cover Purpose, Form & Style, Content, Meaning, Genre, Target Audience, Frequency and production process. I went onto websites such as BBC, to find podcasts and audio programs for my research.
Most of the AMP's ( audio media product) that i researched where made to entertain and inform the audience. These are shown to be the two most popular purposes for AMP's. These two purposes tend to be mixed together to give the audience the best listening experience as possible.
Good introduction, may need to rephrase what they are to cover in their essay so that its not just one massive long list.
Shows that they have researched their AMP's and have a good understanding of what makes a popular AMP.
2nd draft.
I will be writing the conclusion of my research on Audio Media Products. I will cover: The purpose of the AMP, why it was made. The Form & style, What form it takes and is it informal or formal. The Content, what the AMP contains. The meaning , what the meaning of the AMP is. Genre, what area of entertainment it is in. The Target Audience, who the AMP was made for. Frequency, who often the AMP is made and aired. The production process, how it is made.
I will compare Old Harrys Game which its purpose is to entertain, to Radio 5 Sports Special which is to inform. Old Harrys Game is made to be a serious sitcom that entertains so it is formal and it will be to make people laugh, where as Radio 5 Sports special is more informal because they talk more freely this helps with the information that the listener gains.
The Form & Style is just as important as the purpose because it shows whether the audio media product is informal/formal or controversial. Most of the AMPs I did research on turned out to be formal. This is because I think most producers see a radio program as being formal and serious. The form and style is such an important aspect of AMP's because it helps decide the target audience that AMP will appeal to.Comparing the business matters to Wake up to money. Business matters is more informal but more controversial than Wake up to money which is formal.
The Content is about what the AMP contains, whether it contains information, comedy, horror, gaming etc. Most of the AMP's i researched contain comedy and information. Little include any other contents. Comparing Old Harry's Game to 5 live Sports Special you can tell that Old Harry's Game contains comedy where as 5 Sports Special contains only information on the latest sports. This comparison demonstrates that two of the same type of media (radio programmes ) can have completely different contents.
The meaning is another major part of an audio media product because it represents what the AMP conveys. It tells the listener whether its there to influence , engage , encourage. This can be vital for an AMP because engaging the audience is key to a successful AMP. The AMP's that i researched wanated to engage the listener while influencing them to get involved. A good example of this is Wake up to money, because it seeks to engage and influence the audience with expert information.
Genre is arguably the most important aspect to keep in mind when creating a AMP, this is because it is the basis of the AMP, if the AMP has no genre it cannot succeed. Out of the audio media products i researched the genres that popped up the most were comedy, sports, educational and informative. These are the prime genres for AMP's becasue they present the biggest audience. Radio 5 sports special had the genre of sport, Old Harrys Game had the genre of Comedy and Business matters has the genre of informative and educational.
Target audience is a definitive part of every AMP, it makes the creators of the AMP to understand who they are catering for, it allows for the hosts to talk a certain way or act a certain way, for example in comedy the host has the talk with comedic value where as in sport they need to inform about sports. Through my research i have seen many types of targeting audience, Old Harrys Game is comedy and cators for anyone of any age, ethnicity, gender but they have to enjoy laughing. In Business matters the target audience is business men/women likely between the ages of 30 to 70, all ethnicity's.
Frequency determines how often the AMP will air or show. This key to structuring the AMP so that they can keep producing and informing or entertaining their audience. Wake up to money is aired every business working day (Monday-friday), where as Radio 5 Sports special doesn't have a set frequency.
Production process is the way the audio media product is created and distributed. This is the most important of all the points i have mentioned so far, this is because it makes all of my previous points abundant if you aren't able to create, market and distribute the AMP. Radio 5 Sports Special are able to create every week randomly then because they are a subsection of the BBC the BBC Radio will market and distribute it for them. Where as Old harrys game is made once a week then they have to market and distribute them selves.

LO1 3/9/14
My idea for the brief is to have a podcast discussing the current events that are happening within the film community. It would be informal. I would have 2 people with a list of subjects which they would spend 2 minutes sharing their opinions on each subject then segwaying into the next. Its target audience would be 16-20 year olds, that are interested in what others think of films, mixed ethnicity and of both genders.
I have learn t that during a podcast you want to keep a listeners attention, so in order to do this you have to keep things interesting whether it be with comedy or just changing the subject regularly. Out of the podcasts i listened to they tended to introduce interviews also with a famous person or persons thins helps the podcast to appeal to the fan base of the famous person thus increasing the audience for the podcast.
I have found out that the key to a good podcast is to keeping the listeners on their toes with some form of entertainment. I have also found out that a Podcast doesn't have to be in the form of boring chats with professionals, it can be a couple normal people just sharing their opinions on a subject.
The things that went well is that i was able to find out the keys to keeping viewers and gaining more. I also found out that controversial subjects are good subjects for discussions because most people tend to have strong opinions on this.
During my research i wasn't able to find out the RAJAR for the most popular podcasts. I also wasn't able to find out what the most popular subjects are for discussion.
